OUR FIRST 90 DAYS

A Plan Rooted in Action and Accountability

The first 90 days of any new role are critical. That’s no different for the opportunity to serve as your next Wichita City Council District 1 representative.

From day one of this campaign, I’ve said this race isn’t about politics, it’s about people.

It’s about addressing the kitchen table issues, ending the political gamesmanship, and working with anyone committed to seeing District 1 thrive through economic advancement, stronger communities, and restored trust in local government.

That’s why I’m laying out a clear plan for our first 90 days—one that reflects my commitment to listen, learn, and act. Beyond the standard onboarding all elected officials receive, here’s how we’ll get to work:

1. Uniting Our Community, Even Those Who Didn’t Support Me
We must move forward together. That means reaching out to my opponents and the individuals and leaders who supported them to find common ground. I will meet one-on-one with community members and host two structured forums where residents can voice their concerns, share what’s holding District 1 back, and offer ideas for how I can serve them effectively.

2. Building Partnerships with Councilmembers and County Leaders
Collaboration is key. In my first 90 days, I’ll meet with fellow City Councilmembers to identify shared priorities and opportunities to partner on economic and social issues. I’ll also connect with County Commissioners Ryan Baty and Pete Meitzner to continue conversations on joint services—especially in areas like homelessness, workforce development, code enforcement, and planning—where collaboration is already happening and I can maximize results for District 1 residents.

3. Empowering Our Youth
We can’t build the future without the future workforce at the table. I will push to update the DAB (District Advisory Board) ordinance to require a youth representative on every board. Working with the Youth Advisory Council, we’ll audit neighborhood and recreation centers to identify which amenities are working and which need improvement, starting with continued investment plans for the Brewer Recreation Center. When youth see their ideas brought to life, they understand the power of their voice in local democracy.

4. Launching a Review of Zoning and Housing Policies
Housing remains our most urgent issue. Wichita faces a 10,000-unit shortage. In the first 90 days, I’ll begin working with our Planning Department to review zoning and subdivision policies, identifying red tape that prevents affordable and diverse housing development. We’ll seek community input and study what similar cities are doing to balance neighborhood character with the need for housing that’s affordable—especially for renters. This includes transitional housing to support our unhoused neighborhoods, which will require collaboration with the housing department.

Looking Ahead
The first 90 days won’t solve every problem, but it will set the tone. I will approach this work with humility, knowing I have much to learn. But I also won’t waste time. I’ve heard your calls for action. I know trust in the government is low. That’s why this plan is public—to set expectations, promote transparency, and start building the trust our city deserves.

If this vision speaks to you, join me in voting by August 5. Together, let’s chart a new path for District 1—one that centers people, not politics. Together we’re going to build a stronger District 1 and Wichita for all. Onward Together.
